Support Theta by Becoming
a Life Loyal Member
Letter from the President
Beta Tau/ Denison 1983
Greetings from your Executive Board and chairpersons! We hope each of you are enjoying the lingering days of summer and looking forward to a fun-filled fall including spending some time with your Theta sisters.
The summer has been a busy one for your officers. In June, I was honored to attend Grand Convention in Orlando. It was a wonderful experience and I came away with lots of ideas for everything from social events to ways to make the alumnae membership experience richer for all of you, as well as how to help our college chapters share the relevance of Theta with their communities. I will present my full report to the chapter at our fall potluck and meeting but want to share a couple highlights here.
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of your officers; to all of you who attend and support our events; and to our wonderful dues paying and Life Loyal members, our chapter was recognized as a Golden Kite Chapter for the fourth consecutive biennium. Even more humbling and exciting, we were a finalist for the Founders Award, along with only three other alumnae chapters from around the country and Canada. The Founders Award is the highest recognition the Fraternity bestows on its chapters (college and alumnae) and just to be on the podium is a tremendous achievement. Again, thank you to all of you for supporting your chapter and making our consideration for this honor possible!
Riding a wave of post-Convention momentum, the Executive board met in July for a fruitful planning meeting-the results of which are in this newsletter. Mark your calendars now for our perennial favorites, including the fall potluck and chapter meeting (Thanks to Sue Switzer for hosting), our Day of Service benefiting our local CASA chapter, Study Sweets, the ornament exchange and Founders Day. Be on the lookout for some new events like Shakespeare in the Park and a tailgate themed healthy cooking lesson. There are also some great outings planned for our young alumnae group. There will be some special bonuses for you if you are a dues paying member, and it is never too late to pay your dues if you are not! Treasurer Jessica Rannow is always ready to accept your check!
In the meantime follow us on Facebook (Kappa Alpha Theta Columbus Alumnae) and check your in box for email updates and news. As always, if you have an idea for an event or service project you would like to see us involved in or if you are interested in getting more involved with the chapter, by perhaps co-hosting an event or serving on one of our standing committees, please let anyone on the Board know. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at an event soon!
