Support Theta by Becoming
a Life Loyal Member
Letter from the President
Beta Tau/ Denison 1983
This is such an invigorating time of year and your alumnae chapter has so
much going on in and around it it’s hard to know where to start, so I’ll begin
by congratulating our very own Vice President Membership, Lynda Malugen
Wiley, on her recognition by the fraternity as their August Leading Women
Spotlight recipient. Be sure to visit the Theta homepage to see Lynda’s
Congratulations are also in order for the Alpha Gamma chapter as its
members and alumnae prepare to celebrate 125 years at the Ohio State
University. Everyone is welcome to the festivities on September 23, whether
you were initiated into Alpha Gamma or elsewhere. More information is
contained later in the newsletter and from Annie McCabe.
As a chapter we’ll be kicking off the fall with a happy hour at the Hofbrauhaus
on August 24 and our potluck and meeting on September 28. In conjunction
with our potluck we’re holding an accessories drive for Columbus Dress for
Success and your officers will be presenting “job sells” in advance of slating
for the 2018-2020 biennium. I’ll be hosting and hope to see lots of you there.
We hope to continue to grow our collaboration with CASA of Franklin County
by supporting the annual CASA breakfast on September 15 and by
dedicating our Day of Service to our local CASA kids with another journal
decorating event on October 18.
Further into the season look forward to a craft event, another fabulous
ornament exchange and Study Sweets with cookie delivery to all our college
chapters on December 9th. Look for details inside and mark your calendars
today; these events will be here before we know it!
Finally, I’d like to take this space to express my deep gratitude and
appreciation to Liz Long Downey for her ten years of dedicated service to the
executive board. As you know Liz currently serves as our Panhellenic
delegate, representing Theta in the Columbus Alumnae Panhellenic
Association; what you may not know is that she is also the president-elect of
the Ohio Wesleyan Alumni Association and is preparing to step into its
presidency. Accordingly, Liz will be stepping down from her executive board
role with us when a replacement can be found. Liz has graciously offered to
stay on until that happens and will undertake transitioning a new delegate.
This is a terrific opportunity to get more involved in your alumnae chapter and
we welcome your interest. Please reach out to Liz or to me if you’d like to
step forward and get involved. Remember, the more you put into your
chapter the more you’ll get out of it! Hope to see you all soon!
Loyally in Theta,
